Carmen served as the Principal and Master Property Practitioner at Balfin Real Estate in Johannesburg for fifteen years, where she owned and managed the company with a focus on residential sales and letting.
She led a dedicated team of ten agents—five specialising in sales and five in rentals—while overseeing all daily operations, including strategic planning, scheduling and streamlining the mortgage bond process through established networks with various financial institutions.
In her capacity as Managing Member, Carmen was responsible for the following key areas:
Marketing & Branding: Spearheaded corporate branding and advertising initiatives, executing targeted marketing activities and promotional sales campaigns. This included overseeing all newspaper and media publication presentations to ensure a high-visibility market presence.
Training & Compliance: Designed and implemented a bespoke company training manual and facilitated sales training for her team, grounded in the fundamentals of real estate sales and South African Property Law.
Portfolio Management: Directed a rental portfolio of more than 88 properties, ensuring efficient and effective management while maintaining high occupancy rates.
Professional Networking: Cultivated long-term professional relationships with conveyancers and leveraged both print and digital media to expand client reach through clear and professional communication.
